You would like to be trained to teach equality?
Until March 2028, the Table de concertation féministe · Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine will offer free training workshops to the region’s educational staff, from early childhood to CEGEP level. Each workshop lasts 2-3 hours and is offered in person within your school or educational institution.
Discover which gender stereotypes influence identity development in children aged 0 to 5, and how these stereotypes impact the four areas of child development according to their gender. Explore how the adults around them are likely to reproduce these stereotypes in their interactions with them and with the toys and books they are offering children. Intervention strategies and concrete activities to do with children will be shared so that you can quickly and easily put what you have learned into practice in your childcare setting.
Would you like to prevent and counter masculinist discourses in elementary and high school classrooms or in adult education settings? This two-hour workshop will help you understand the phenomenon of misogynistic influencers and, more broadly, the manosphere. You will learn about the consequences of these sexist remarks on young people and become familiar with the best ways to intervene with students to challenge these ideas and promote egalitarian relationships.
Dress codes and their enforcement are often a sensitive issue that does not enjoy unanimous support among school teams. They can sometimes be a source of tension with parents and students. Several equality issues underlie the development and implementation of an inclusive dress code that promotes equality. This two-hour training course provides context for the issue of dress codes in elementary and high schools, supports the updating of the dress code by endorsing guidelines that are consistent with the school’s educational mission, opens a space for discussion and exchange to ensure that the guidelines chosen reflect a lasting consensus, and direct staff members to tools for addressing issues related to hypersexualisation and various forms of violence.
With social polarisation evident both in schools and in public discourse on topics such as feminism, immigration, the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and other social justice issues, this training encourages introspection to become aware of our biases as elementary, high school, or adult education teachers, and offers concrete tools to create inclusive educational environments, both within the classroom and at the school level.
Vocational and technical training programmes in the region (as well as workplaces) are still heavily gendered: women who choose traditionally male-dominated professions are therefore very often in the minority, both in their educational and work environments. This two-hour training session will help you understand the importance of gender parity in educational settings, recognize the obstacles that women may face when studying, and explore measures that can make educational settings safer for them.
