Brief description of the issue
We learn gender stereotypes from a very young age, therefore they have to be broken down even at the elementary level if we want all children to explore and become their true self. Having a more critical understanding of gender roles can prevent students from being compelled by misogynistic and masculinist online influencers.
The Open University has put together a set of four lesson plans you can use in your classroom to introduce your students to the notion of gender stereotypes and start them to think critically about what is expected from them because they are a boy or a girl.
